Functional fashion is what two local ladies aimed for when they launched their business. K.C. and Mallory DeBra created Owl Be Sweatin', an adjustable, non-slip headband solution for athletic activities and everyday lives. "We have both grown up playing sports and have been active our entire lives. We were inspired because we have spent years and have invested in countless products trying to find a headband that would work for us" says Mallory "We decided to create a headband ourselves. We are a sister-in-law team, both Cincinnati natives with an idea and dream."

They started sporting new headbands in their sand volleyball league. "When woman started to approach us and ask us where we purchased our headbands, we knew we had something," says Mallory "From there we formed our brand and created a solid product that we love and others love too!"

According to Mallory, Owl Be Sweatin' headbands can be summed up in one word: Adjustable. "There are other companies out there who make a non-slip, athletic headband, but ours are adjustable, which is key," she explains. "We all have different head sizes and sometimes the traditional non-slip headbands are too big or too small."

How did they come up with the idea to make it adjustable? Mallory says necessity was the mother of invention. "K.C. has a 'smaller' head and she always said she didn't like wearing headbands," she explains. "Then, we realized that she didn't like wearing them because they never fit her! That was our 'to-do' moment and the rest is history."

"We truly love having this business together and make every order by-hand, so we take pride in every customer," says Mallory. "Both being mommies, we want to set an example for our kids and show them that they can make their dreams come true with hard work and a great idea!"

This summer, Owl Be Sweatin' will be focusing on getting their products on shelves. "We have been working to get Owl Be Sweatin' in retail stores for customers to enjoy," says Mallory. "In June, we will be hosting a fundraiser with Make-A-Wish Foundation, so keep an eye out for that!"
