Between the high cost and short-lived results, a manicure can leave you feeling more manic than cured.

Jasna Dzafer, owner of Jasna Dzafer - Be Healthy. Be Beautiful, experienced this many times. Her story, though, doesn't end in disappointment. Instead, she took matters into her own hands (literally) and began to learn to do her own nails.

"I quit going to nail salons and started to paint my own nails the way I liked them and as detailed as I wanted them to be," says Dzafer. "It became my passion. I enjoyed it so much that in high school I started painting all my girlfriends nails as my hobby."

This continued for years, as her friends loved to see her transform their natural nails into something they had never had before.

"I pretty much became a nail artist at an early age but it was not until Debrah Englert personally approached me and asked me to become part of her team of professionals did I consider for the first time to turn my passion into a business," says Dzafer.

Now, with her passion a business, Jasna Dzafer – Be Healthy. Be Beautiful is coveted as a high-end nail spa in the heart of Debrah Englert Salon, Hair Loss and Restoration Center in Hyde Park, located on the third floor the of Rustic Pear at 3612 Marburg Avenue. At Debrah Englert Salon you can receive hair, skin and nail services all under one roof.

With a $25 shellac manicure for first time clients, Dzafer's shellac expertise has quickly become her most popular service.

"All my Shellac services include a free manicure," says Dzafer. "I neatly trim and shape the nails followed by grooming and conditioning the cuticles free of charge. Other salons charges additional fees if one desires to have a manicure with Shellac services."

Dzafer says her Shellac is "Three-Free," meaning that it contains no formaldehyde, DBP, or toluene. She says her shellac polish lasts for upwards of 14 days and is odor free, with durable shine that resists chips, scratches, and smudges. Plus, Dzafer says, removal is quick and easy, and when correctly applied the method doesn't damage the nails or surrounding skin.

"For concerns about UV exposure," Dzafer explains. "I use UV lamps with low-watt UV bulbs that filter out most of the damaging rays, and have been scientifically tested to be safer than the exposure your hands get from driving in the sun without gloves."

Dzafer also offers a client referral program where you can get discounts on your future services, as well $5 off of some services for first time clients.

All services are done by appointment only. To learn more, visit the Jasna Dzafer – Be Healthy. Be Beautiful Facebook page. To make an appointment call (513) 378-9926.
