For this week's "Best Bang for Your Buck" issue, we chat with a local lady who started a coupon blog after she learned how to cut her family’s grocery bills in half. Read on as this Queen City-based coupon queen shares her story and some helpful money-saving tips.

Saving money is a big deal. Saving a lot of money is an even bigger deal. And helping others save money? Well that's just golden. For Katie Kaiser, it was the desire to help out other families that inspired her to start her website, Cincinnati Cents

Cincinnati Cents is Kaiser's money-saving that helps families stretch their money where she highlights weekly grocery and drug store deals, freebies, family-friendly events and bargains.

In an effort to save her family money on groceries, she got into using coupons at the beginning of 2008 and over the course of a few months she was able to cut her family's grocery bill by more than 50 percent. She then started "extreme couponing" and started to stockpile the products her family was using on a daily basis.

"I often called my friends and family members to let them know about the deals I had found. In the process, I decided that my efforts would be much more far reaching and beneficial to others if I posted those finds in a common place where others could access them," she says.

Kaiser’s site is updated constantly throughout the day as she finds more deals that she can share with her readers. She hopes that other families and individuals can benefit and cut back on the money they have to spend on groceries the way she has.

Readers of Cincinnati Cents can find money saving opportunities in a variety of areas. "In addition to listing the best deals at a variety of stores in the area each week, including Meijer, Kroger, CVS, Walgreens and Aldi," she adds, "the site includes money-saving tips, recipes, family-friendly events, free offers and inexpensive or free homeschooling resources."

And now, Kaiser is taking money-saving to a whole new level. By offering readers a chance to see where they can save money, she’s helping them stretch their money out a little further so they can save up or spend the money they’ve saved on something else that could benefit them or their families.

Since starting her site, Kaiser says she's feeling the love from her readers. "They are very encouraging and often leave positive feedback and comments on my posts," she adds. "They are the inspiration behind the work that I do."

Kaiser says 2013 is goign to be a great year for her and her readers, as she plans to take her money-saving advice talents past the grocery store this year. She's starting a new series on Cincinnati Cents that includes organizing in small spaces, inexpensive date nights, budget stretchers and simple freezer cooking.
