Glamour for the Girls
Girlfriends, glamorizing, and gorgeous photos. If this sounds like a winning combo to you, put the Glam Parties at 915 Monmouth Street Studio on your radar.
This second annual event series consists of a pampering session and photoshoot for women to get haute couture headshots, while having fun in the process. "Many women only have professional photos for their senior year of high school or their wedding day," explains Jacalyn Mains, owner of JMM Photography, which is based out of the 915 Monmouth Street Studio. "We want to give women an opportunity to get dolled up and have a fun photo shoot to make them feel glamorous."
According to Mains, when a woman attends, she is greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne and hors d'oeuvres. Then, she sits down to get a hair and makeup makeover. After that, she's ready for her close up, as Mains provides a 15 minute photoshoot. "The party is long enough for the woman to feel pampered and stylish, but not too long as to where it takes up her whole day," says Mains.
"Since this is our second set of Glam Parties, we are hoping that men will get this as a gift for their wives and girlfriends for Valentine’s Day," says Mains. "We want to be a part of a woman's Valentine's Day by giving them a stylish makeover and a glamorous head shot for her own personal use."
The inspiration for this event came when Mains and four of her team members settled into the 915 Monmouth Street Studio. "We primarily do photography, makeup, hair, and provide other products for weddings," explains Mains, "but our studio is so large that we decided that we could hold events, such as the Glam Parties, during our off seasons."
Mains and her crew settled into the studio a year and a half ago, and had to determine how to use its size in their business. "It is just so large that we all decided it would great to hold events and do really fun things with the space."
Apart from hosting other events in the studio, the gals at 915 Monmouth Street rent out the studio as a party space. Mains is also holding her own photography class in the studio, called a "Click Class," for those interested in learning more about photography. "We love our studio," Mains says, "and we have enjoyed coming up with different creative ways to use the large amount of space we have."
The second annual Glam Parties will be held on February 16. Those interested in attending the party must pre-pay and reserve a spot.
