Fun, philanthropy, fashion and faux fur. Enjoy it all as Impact 100 hosts Shop 'til You Drop at Donna Salyers' Fabulous-Furs, Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. For a $15 entrance fee, attendees will enjoy shopping at a 15% discount, drinking and dining while Impact 100 presents its goals. Plus, 10% of all sales at the event will benefit Impact 100.

The organization developed this event to be a fundraiser as well as a "friendraiser." Impact 100 was founded 10 years ago by a group of women who wanted to pool their charitable donations together into one significant grant. The goal was that 100 women each contribute $1,000 for a $100,000 grant to a community non-profit. The organization now has donated more than $2.3 million to Greater Cincinnati causes. Since its inception, Impact 100 has expanded to include 14 chapters in other cities and has awarded over $15 million in grants. Membership is open to all women. All of the $1,000 annual dues directly funds the $100,000+ grants.

Shop 'til You Drop is an event "designed to introduce prospective members to the organization in a fun, relaxed atmosphere." Becky Meyer from Impact 100 says, "in addition to shopping women can mingle and network." There will be free wine and appetizers. Meyer continues, "We will likely have a quick presentation or two from past Impact 100 grant recipients, so prospective members can appreciate the transformational nature the grants have on the recipient not-for-profit organizations."

Two Cincinnati non-profits were recently awarded grants of $107,500 each by Impact 100. Mercy Neighborhood Ministries, which certifies un- and underemployed women as home health aids, plans to use the grant to double the capacity of its training program. CancerFree Kids will use its grant to add a pet visiting center to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where families will be able to bring their pet to play with children who are going through long-term stays at the hospital.

Fabulous-Furs is a design house that Salyers is proud to say dedicates itself to all the luxury fur while "sparing animals the cruelty associated." Its showroom is located in Covington, where many of their products are manufactured. Fabulous-Furs does have an online retail option, but Salyers points out that the showroom experience includes "exclusive products not found in our catalog, a personal shopping experience from our friendly and knowledgeable staff [and] access to our warehouse surplus merchandise."
