The Missing Link
Where do you get up-to-date fashion information? Do you curl up with the latest magazine? Or do you, like millions of other people, spend hours surfing the internet looking for the one fashion blogger who "gets" your style?
And if you happen to be one of the fashion bloggers out there in the internet world, then you know how difficult it is to build credibility or get the brands you're talking about interested in what you have to say.
Erin Flynn began her fashion blog, Reality Chic, about two years ago. "I know firsthand how hard it is to build a following and the difficulties of managing a productive relationship with brands," says Flynn.
It was this precarious balance between the brand, the blogger and the reader that drove Flynn to co-found Righting Style along with her husband, Colin, and sister-in-law, Amy, this past July. "We consider ourselves the love triangle connecting fashion bloggers, brands and readers," Flynn says.
Righting Style gives bloggers the opportunity to "expose themselves" by tracing the most popular and relevant bloggers on the website's home page "leaderboard."
Readers will determine the bloggers who have the most relevant content by using popular social media such as Facebook and Twitter. Righting Style can trace the popularity and relevance of each blogger's content and is able to make the proper connections between the most popular writers and advertising agencies as well as public relations firms. "We'll be connecting the two parties in a more effective and time-efficient manner," says Flynn.
"With top content gaining more and more exposure, fashion bloggers will finally have a way to get continuous feedback on their writing and will have an interested and engaged audience just waiting to read their best content," says Flynn. "We also want to provide an opportunity for readers to explore fashion blog content around the world based on location, style interests and popularity."
Righting Style is in its beginning stages. "We are in the process of developing our website, raising a round of funding and networking with PR firms, brands and bloggers," says Flynn.
The three founders of Righting style hope that they can create a web structure which will be applicable to other industries down the line. "We want to take this model into other blogger-heavy industries," says Flynn.
Although the site has not launched yet, Flynn suggests that interested bloggers sign up at Righting Style's homepage or search for Righting Style on Twitter and Facebook. More articles by this author
