Dr. Amy Brenner, Owner of Amy Brenner MD & Associates
Today, she provides a unique concept to the women of cincinnati as a "women's one stop shop," offering everything from gynecology to skincare to weight loss. She does does this as she balances being a wonderful mother of three and a devoted wife. She is so unique to her area of care because she strives by the minute to continuously change and update areas of her practice to make women feel as comfortable and welcome as possible. Keep reading for a Q&A with this year's 2011 Cincy Chic Woman of the Year in the health department.
Cincy Chic: Thus far in your career, what are you personally most proud of accomplishing?
Being a 42-year-old mother of three, stepmom, wife, sister, friend, boss, co-worker, patient, daughter and most every role a woman can be in, I know many of the challenges women face. We are pulled in every direction and often don't take time for ourselves. And when we do, the last thing we want to do is spend it at a doctor's office, especially the gyno. So, I thought of all the things that I despise about visiting the gyno and tried to change them. I despise dirty waiting rooms with dated magazines, the unfriendly receptionist who doesn't even make eye contact when you arrive, the long wait times and the paper sheets and paper robes.
In my office, it is not a crime to have a cup of coffee and relax! I have worked hard to create an atmosphere that is comforting with staff that truly cares about our patients. But the best part about going my own way is that I have ventured out into integrative medicine, which is that middle ground between holistic and traditional medicine. I have helped many women get off sleeping pills, anti-depressants and "fake hormones." When a patient comes back and says that I've changed her life, this is the best reward I could ever ask for.
