Dr. Amy Brenner, Owner of Amy Brenner MD & Associates
She's living her long-time dream of owning her own practice that offers everything from gynecology to skincare and weight loss. Keep reading to learn more about this health-focused femme.

Brenner is a board-certified OB/GYN physician with 15 years of experience. After realizing women need a warm, comforting and homey place to receive service, she decided to open her own practice in West Chester to do just that.

Today, she provides a unique concept to the women of cincinnati as a "women's one stop shop," offering everything from gynecology to skincare to weight loss. She does does this as she balances being a wonderful mother of three and a devoted wife. She is so unique to her area of care because she strives by the minute to continuously change and update areas of her practice to make women feel as comfortable and welcome as possible. Keep reading for a Q&A with this year's 2011 Cincy Chic Woman of the Year in the health department.

Cincy Chic: Thus far in your career, what are you personally most proud of accomplishing?
Dr. Amy Brenner, owner of Amy Brenner MD & Associates: It has to be opening my own practice after 12 years of practicing in a large group. Since I have started my own practice, I have the luxury of doing things the way I want to do them.

Being a 42-year-old mother of three, stepmom, wife, sister, friend, boss, co-worker, patient, daughter and most every role a woman can be in, I know many of the challenges women face. We are pulled in every direction and often don't take time for ourselves. And when we do, the last thing we want to do is spend it at a doctor's office, especially the gyno. So, I thought of all the things that I despise about visiting the gyno and tried to change them. I despise dirty waiting rooms with dated magazines, the unfriendly receptionist who doesn't even make eye contact when you arrive, the long wait times and the paper sheets and paper robes.

In my office, it is not a crime to have a cup of coffee and relax! I have worked hard to create an atmosphere that is comforting with staff that truly cares about our patients. But the best part about going my own way is that I have ventured out into integrative medicine, which is that middle ground between holistic and traditional medicine. I have helped many women get off sleeping pills, anti-depressants and "fake hormones." When a patient comes back and says that I've changed her life, this is the best reward I could ever ask for.

Cincy Chic: What's something most people don't know about you?
Brenner: I am very frugal. I grew up in Youngstown, Ohio with teachers for parents. Money was tight growing up. I spend a lot of time cutting coupons, looking for sales and even shopping at thrift stores. To date, my kids' Christmas presents have all come from Craigslist.

Cincy Chic: What's the next step in your career?
Brenner: I would like to be able to reach more women in the Tri-State area, but I am limited by the hours in the day. I am blessed that my schedule is very full. I recently hired one mid-level provider, Tiffany Sloan who is a physician assistant. She is amazing and the perfect extension of my beliefs and philosophy. I personally trained her to also manage hormones, counsel regarding weight loss, supplements and general gynecology care. I plan to expand our practitioners, so women can get in to our office and get the help they are looking for sooner.

Cincy Chic: What does this WOTY award mean to you?
Brenner: Women in Cincinnati are chic and want to be treated as such. I strive to have a medical practice that is considered chic - up-to-date, classy, stylish and still empowering women to be all they can be.
