Operation Skinny Jeans

Operation Skinny Jeans
Learn about a new fat-zapping technology called "Zerona" one local weight loss center is offering, and see how it helped our
Cincy Chic publisher fit back in her skinny jeans. 090511HEALTH.jpg

Every woman has them. The pair of "skinny" jeans she tucks away in hopes she eventually fits back into them again.

Mine were my once-favorite pair of size four Lucky jeans I bought eight years ago. My thighs had since developed a few "extra layers" and I haven't fit in them for six years. But you better bet I've kept them around. I've even moved them into the three places I've lived in this period of time!

My husband and I recently moved into a new home. When I packed away the skinny jeans yet again, I decided this is the year I fit back into them.

One of our new clients at Cincy Chic is UniqueU Medical Weight Loss, a physician directed, medially assisted weight loss center. The physicians there are Jim Lutz MD and Dan Buchanan DC.

My friend Lisa Cooney is doing the HCG hormone therapy there. It's been very effective for her - she's lost more than 40 pounds! - so I discussed that option with the doctors. But then they told me about their other offering, Zerona, which intrigued me even more. I didn't want to "lose weight" necessarily - I've always had a healthy diet and I work out often - I just needed a little extra help to lose a few inches. And that's what Zerona is best for!

Zerona is a non-invasive, externally applied laser body slimming procedure to effectively remove excess fat. It's the first and only FDA approved laser for "circumferential size loss." In plain English, that means it's size loss, not weight loss. So, you might not see a big change on the scale, but you'll fit back in your skinny jeans.

"There is no incision, burning or any feeling at all, with no side effects or down time," Buchanan says. "The medical mechanism that describes how the laser works is called 'cryolipolisis,' which causes the subcutaneous fat cells to break apart and the contents of the fat cells are released into the circulatory system and excreted out thru normal detoxification." Yes, that basically means you pee out your fat!

There are several places in town offering Zerona treatments, Buchanan says. But not all offerings are the same, so do your homework before you decide where you go. Buchanan says the following protocols make UniqueU's treatments different and more effective, at no additional cost:
  • Nine laser sessions (instead of six which most places offer).
  • UniqueU Detoxification Diet is used (most offices don't recommend a diet).
  • Two supplements are used (most offices use just one or none).
  • KORR metabolic testing is used at the end to ensure maintenance to prevent weight gain and prevent the fat cells from becoming large again.

"We are seeing an average of six inches of size loss versus the FDA studies of 3.5 inches of size loss," says Buchanan.

I ended up losing a little more than five inches total off my
waist, hips and thighs! And … drum roll… I fit back in my skinny jeans! I just wore them on a date night with my husband this weekend and it made me feel like a million bucks! It's amazing how just a few inches lost can make you feel so much better!

My staff decided that we would cover UniqueU in our "People You Should Know" issue because of my personal experience and because of the dramatic results other people such as Lisa Cooney are experiencing at UniqueU.

What I honestly loved about UniqueU is that there were doctors by my side to answer any questions I had throughout the entire process (and I had a lot!). The metabolic testing is great too, because I not only saw the outside effects of losing inches, but also the inside effects of an increased metabolism. I also liked that there was a diet (very similar to a "caveman diet" FYI) and exercise program incorporated into the weight loss. This wasn't a fad diet or quick fix. It's more of a new lifestyle for me - a lifestyle with many more skinny jeans on the horizon!

If you have any questions about my expereince, feel free to contact me. Or, if you'd like to learn more about UniqueU, give them a call at (513) 984-2700.
