Sneak Peek of Krombholz Retrofittings Design
The ninth annual Retrofittings fashion show is coming up. Get a behind-the-scenes look at what Krombholz Jewelers is designing for the featured auction item.

Retrofittings. It's a who's-who event with a fashion show that makes vintage viable and fashion philanthropic.

The ninth annual event will take place this year on Oct. 13 in the Hall of Mirrors. And, as always, it benefits St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP). This year's fashion show will feature creations of more than 50 fashion design students from the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP).

For this project, which is part of DAAP sophomores' curriculum, the students get a certificate to purchase clothing, accessories and other materials from SVDP's seven thrift stores. The designs are then modeled by UC students in a New York style fashion show.

The event begins at 6p.m. with hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, an auction, raffle and boutique sale preceding the fashion show which is being hosted by Jen Dalton from WKRC-TV and the CW Cincinnati.

1209KROMBHOLZ.gif Featured guests include NFL linebacker and 2010 RetroFittings host Dhani Jones in conjunction with his national "Bow Tie Cause" initiative. He will be selling a featured bow tie for $57 and all proceeds will go to SVDP.

Krombholz Jewelers, a long-standing sponsor of Retrofittings, is preparing for its participation in the event. Each year, owner and designer, Lee Krombholz designs a piece of jewelry to be auctioned off at the event to benefit SVDP.

Not unlike the DAAP students, Krombholz gets his materials from a local SVDP thrift store. In the past, he's created pins, necklaces and bracelets.  This year, he's creating a bracelet from sterling silver and black sapphires he found at SVDP. The bracelet design was inspired by wrought iron in Charleston, South Carolina.

To see the finished creation, and bid on it among many other items to benefit SVDP, visit to get your ticket to the show.
