Amanda Anderson, a full time special education teacher and mother of two, is approaching her 40th birthday. She wanted to celebrate the milestone in style, but with her busy schedule, "I cannot find the time to update my look or even keep up on current fashion trends," she said.

Anderson was selected to be the
Mitchell's Salon & Day Spa "Monthly Makeover." This program randomly selects one lucky lady to win a complimentary hair and makeup makeover at Mitchell's. The winner is featured in a future issue of Cincy Chic. Click here to learn more about the makeover program and enter to win!

Greg Faith was Anderson's Hair Designer for the makeover. "Her hair was blonde and washed out after being home colored," he explained. "I wanted to show a bit more softness and dimension, so I lowlighted through the bang and temporals to bring a little color next to her face."

Faith also included highlights with the lowlights to add contrast and dimension. He also pulled the low-light color through the nape region. Faith said he cut her hair with a razor to remove bulk and add softness.

Faith used Bumble & bumble Texturizing Gel ($28.60) at the roots and groomed through out. He shuffled her hair around with his hands for volume. Then, he used a 1 1/2" round brush for the bangs to give her lift and smoothness.

Kennedy Hornsby, Esthetician, wanted to give Anderson an updated look that was quick and easy, so she could maintain it despite her busy schedule. Hornsby used Jane Iredale Dream Tint Moisturizer Medium ($39.60) to even out her skin tone. "She had a little redness on her cheeks, so the tinted moisturizer evens things out while also moisturizing," says Hornsby. "She can use that alone as her base when she is in a hurry."

She dusted some Jane Iredale pressed powder ($55) all over to give her a more polished look. Hornsby then used a Jane Iredale peachy-pink blush ($29.70) on the apples of her cheeks to give her a healthy glow.

"Amanda usually only uses mascara on her eyes so I showed her a versatile product she can use as an eye shadow base and as a liner," says Hornsby, of the Jane Iredale Black/Brown liner ($29.70).

After that, Hornsby used Jane Iredale Eye Triple Cognac ($30.80), an eye shadow palette "which she can use on an everyday basis or if she's going out," Hornsby explains. "She can just use different techniques to change her look from day to night."

Hornsby completed the look with a Jane Iredale Lipstain/Gloss ($33.00). "She only has to apply the stain once, and can reapply the gloss as needed," Hornsby says.

Anderson was amazed that Hornsby only used six total products. "For a busy mom on-the-go, this is attainable in just a few quick steps," says Hornsby.
