Chic Mom: Stroll On

Chic Mom: Stroll On
Our Chic Mom Columnist preaches the importance of a quality stroller. Read on for tips as to how to pick out a mom's most important companion.

I'll be the first to tell you that, I, Kelly Bennett, am a stroller snob. Yes, I love strollers and all the types that companies have to offer. When Holly was born, I had to have the Orbit stroller. All the celebrities had it - Tori Spelling and Elizabeth Hasselbeck among them - and they talked about how much they loved it! Well, this girl needed one as well.

As an excellent perk, I will tell you that my mother has Fibromyalgia, and this stroller was perfect for her to operate. The base rotates 360 degrees, so it's simple to get in and out of the car. It might be one of those things you have to see to fully appreciate.

At the time, people couldn't get it in Cincinnati; would-be owners had to special order it. About six months after Holly was born, I found out that Best for Babies in Silverton had just started to carry it and other accessories for it. They also have an amazing selection of other baby products. Now, for all you research mommies out there, rest assured that I did do tons of research on it as well, and it fit all of my needs. I never buy anything for Holly without reading up on it first.

I will say for first-time mothers: You don't realize how important the stroller is until baby is here. Your stroller goes everywhere you go - it stores when you shop, it holds your and baby's drinks and acts like the entertainment area while you shop with baby. But most importantly, it's a nap center - that is, if you're lucky enough.

After Holly turned one, we moved onto the jogging stroller, which turned into the everyday stroller as well. We picked a Phil&Teds sport stroller. I really love this one. I did have to buy a drink holder for Holly and one for mommy as well, but that's its only downfall.

My best advice for stroller shopping is to stop that mom in the mall if you like her stroller. Most moms will always help ot fellow mothers. Do your research, find out if the product is safe and if you can, try the product so you are able to get a feel for it. Oh, and one more thing: Don't forget to check out what the celebs are pushing. You might just see your stroller!
