It only comes twice a year, but when it does, you'll find big time bargains - up to 80% off - at your favorite local boutiques. We get the scoop on when and where the next Cincinnati Boutique Sale will be, and which chic shops you'll find there. Keep reading for all the deets on this discount extravaganza.

As if the streets of the Queen City weren't sizzling enough on their own, get ready to strut your stuff in some of the hottest summer fashions, purchased at some of the deepest discounts imaginable. Calling all bargain shoppers, it's again time for one of this town's super shopping extravaganzas: the semi-annual Cincinnati Boutique Sale.

Fashionistas of this town will not need to risk stiletto-induced blisters from pounding the pavement, valiantly searching from shop to shop for their chic, hot weather garb. For three days only, several local boutiques gather in one location for the Cincinnati Boutique Sale (CBS), a huge one-stop-shopping experience featuring all of the season's most desirable sale merchandise. Discounts can run as high as a staggering 80%.

The sale started in the summer of 2007 when a group of local women's boutique owners decided to partner together and pool their sale merchandise into one convenient, central location. Since the sale's inception, the event has grown to attract a crowd of more than 3,000 shoppers.

The CBS founders believe that Cincinnati consists of some of the best high-end, fashion-forward locally owned boutiques around. The sale not only helps them move merchandise, but the weekend event is also a unique way to showcase the various boutiques and introduce the shops to new potential customers.

The stores range from city-wide locations such as Hyde Park, Madeira, Glendale, Mariemont, Deerfield and O'Bryonville. So, it's the perfect opportunity to experience the variety of boutiques without driving all over town. The event now attracts a number of out of town shoppers as well, who take the opportunity to expand their wardrobe, enjoy some of Cincinnati's delicious cuisine, take in a ball game or perhaps a day at Kings Island.

At press time, the participating boutiques are as follows: Alligator Purse, Arte Nouvelle, Bling!, Chez Renee, Envy, La Silhouette, Morrison & Me, Missy & Jack, Otazu, Sara Benjamin's, Silly Bean, Soho Boutique, The Wardrobe and Three French Hens.

Cincy Chic recently spoke with Leslie Hern, Boutique Sale board member and owner of The Wardrobe, a Madeira-based boutique, which has participated in the sale since its inception. "The Cincinnati Boutique Sale is a great event that not only gives Cincinnati Fashionistas a way to save on the best designer apparel, shoes and accessories, but it is also tied to a charitable foundation each time to bring awareness to that organization, which I personally think is wonderful," says Hern. "The Cincinnati Boutique Sale happens twice a year in the Summer and Winter seasons, and offers a one stop shop of the best boutiques in the city with designer fashion at up to 80% off the retail price."

While providing designer looks at a discounted price, the CBS also strives to give back. There is no official entrance fee for the event, but a small $5 suggested donation for admission benefits the Karen Wellington Memorial Foundation. Established in 2007 by friends and family, The Karen Wellington Memorial Foundation was set up for women living with breast cancer to honor Karen's life and to share her legacy of living life to the fullest.

This year, the CBS will take place in the old Anthropology space in Rookwood Commons, 2643 Edmondson Road, Cincinnati, OH 45208. The hours are Friday July 15 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Saturday July 16, 10 a.m.-6:00 p.m., Sunday July 17, 12-4:00 p.m. There is a VIP/preview party planned for Thursday, July 14 4-9:00 p.m. For more information on this, and for up to the minute information on the sale, visit the Cincinnati Boutique Sale Web site.
