Kimberly Wellinghoff has on more makeup and hair products today than the past seven years combined, and she couldn't be happier.

For the past seven years, Wellinghoff served in the military and was required to pull back her hair and wear conservative makeup. "I've never really learned how to wear makeup well or style my hair," she explains. "Now that I'm out, I am trying to get back to civilian life and look for a job, however my look is, well, sorta blah."

Mitchell's Salon & Day Spa selected Wellinghoff to be this month's "Monthly Makeover" and turn her blah into beautiful. This "Monthly Makeover" program randomly selects one lucky lady to win a complimentary hair and makeup makeover at
Mitchell's Salon & Day Spa. The winner is featured in a future issue of Cincy Chic. Click here to learn more about the makeover program and enter to win!

So, Wellinghoff visited the Kenwood Mitchell's and met with stylist Stephanie Stevens. Kimberly came in with very long hair with grown-out highlights. "After consulting with her, I decided to enhance her natural blonde by adding shadows and multiple dimensions to her hair," says Stevens, "which, in turn, allows for easier grow out."

Stevens also added lighter pieces around her face to brighten and enhance her blue eyes. "With her cut," Stevens explains, "I wanted to balance her out by shortening her length and adding long textured layers and a 'swoopy' bang, which adds a soft flow and lightens her look."

Stevens applied Bumble & bumble Tonic Lotion ($21) to all of Wellinghoff's hair. She followed it with a dime-size of Bumble & bumble Brilliantine ($23.10) on the ends, scrunching it in. After that, Stevens applied Bumble & bumble Styling Cream ($26.40) to the scalp and mid-shaft.

Stevens finished Wellinghoff's hairstyle by round brushing the hair, and pinning up each section in a barrel curl using a hair clip. "I let that cool dropping the hair down out of the clips and applied the Oribe Dry Texturing Spray ($43) to the scalp for long-lasting volume."

After Wellinghoff's hair earned its stripes, makeup artist Gale Mancini took over. To showcase the blue color and almond shape of her eyes, Mancini used a black/gray eyeliner on top and bottom and a brown and gold shadow. She used Moonglow ($50.60) to highlight the cheeks. Because Mancini went dramatic on the eyes, she kept a nude lip. "When focusing on playing up an area of the face," Mancini advises, "make sure the other areas are kept as natural as possible."

And with Wellinghoff's new polished look, she's ready to trade in her military boots for stilettos and walk in to her next job interview with confidence.
