Stephanie Ritter is a 21-year-old home health aide who cares for geriatric clients. Her days are consumed with caring for other people, so she often forgot to care for herself.

"My sister is such a hard-working person, but always looks down at the ground," says her sister Erin Ritter. "So, often her efforts go unnoticed."

But all that changed when she
won this month's "Monthly Makeover" from Mitchell's Salon & Day Spa. This "Monthly Makeover" program randomly selects one lucky lady to win a complimentary hair and makeup makeover at Mitchell's. The winner is featured in a future issue of Cincy Chic. Click here to learn more about the makeover program and enter to win!

She visited the Kenwood Mitchell's and met with stylist Jen Schwegman. Ritter had never colored her hair before, so Schwegman added "barely there" lowlights to give some dimension and movement.041811Stephanie_during.jpg

"With her cut, she needed no muss no fuss," says Schwegman. "So, we kept her length and added a lot more layers to give lift and volume."

To frame Ritter's oval-shaped face, Schwegman added some face-framing pieces and a short side bang. "She can wash this cut, add product and walk out the door," says Schwegman.

For style, Schwegman used Bumble & bumble's flat and round brush (round $40, flat $85) on Ritter's blow out. Then, she used Bumble & bumble Tonic Spray ($21) to balance porosity, Oribe
Rock Hard Gel ($36.50) at roots for lift and ribe Crème for Style ($32) to give shine, softness and bounce to the ends.

Kennedy Hornsby, skin technician and makeup artist at Mitchell's Salon, then took
the reins. She started with Ritter's brows. "They were very light to begin with, so we didn't want to take much off," she says. "So we waxed  the fine hairs around her brow to make the brow stand out and look thicker."041811Stephanie_after.jpg

For her makeup, Hornsby used a Jane Iredale tinted moisturizer ($39.60) in medium light. "Stephanie has beautiful skin, so the tinted moisturizer help even her skin tone while allowing her skin to breathe," Hornsbyn says. "It's a very natural look." Then, she added a kit of bronzer to contour her cheeks and used "cotton candy," a pale pink blush on the apple of her cheeks.

Ritter wanted a smoky eye, so Hornsbyn lined the entire eye with a black "creme to powder" liner. Then, she used bronze, purples and peaches for shadow color.

To finish the look, Hornsbyn used the Jane Iredale Blonde Bitty Brow Kit ($28.60) to enhance her newly shaped brows.

Ritter was amazed when she looked in the mirror. She looked primped but not overdone. She was thrilled that the look was fabulous, but no-fuss and low maintenance. "I love it!"
she says. "I'm already standing taller!"
