Vine + Table: "Champagne, Caviar & 65 Roses" for Cystic Fibrosis

Vine + Table: "Champagne, Caviar & 65 Roses"
Welcome spring in style with a classy cystic fibrosis fundraiser. Our food and wine guru gives us a taste of the evening, secrets on pairing champagne and food, and how roses fit into the theme.

Spring is the season for fundraising, and with it come the challenges of choosing which fundraisers to support. The decision can be as daunting as choosing a bottle of wine. But some key elements can help you make your decision.

1. Is it going toward a cause that you care about?

2. Is it offering something of value to you? (Delicious food, drink, live music and socializing might be good things to look for.)

3. In attending the event, are you also supporting a friend who may be a host or organizer?

In a noble effort to raise money for cystic fibrosis, Katie Cassidy and Dave Sanders, both members of "Cincinnati's Finest Young Professionals," will play host for the second annual "Champagne, Caviar and 65 Roses" on March 6 at University Club. Cassidy and Sanders have supported their share of good causes over the years, and both agree this event stands among the finest.

"We wanted to create an event that young professionals would get excited about, giving them a unique experience while being able to donate to the foundation," Cassidy says. "With the ticket you get access to the exclusive members-only University Club, food prepared by talented chef Lauren Brown, and the opportunity to become educated on four types of high-end champagne. It's going to be a great time! What could be better than dining, drinking and dancing for a great cause!"

Cassidy and Sanders have been paired up with Rilley and Sarhea, two little bright-eyed girls who have cystic fibrosis. Both girls, along with their parents, likely will be in attendance.

"Sarhea is an outgoing happy little girl. She loves to laugh and dance. Rilley is incredibly active, strong and independent. Both girls are full of life. You would never know that this devastating disease affects them. They really give hope and inspiration of finding a cure," Cassidy says.

Beyond the four champagne tastings and lavish courses, you can enjoy the popular Indie-rock band, Frankly Speaking, as they provide the live musical entertainment, and valet service is available to make the evening extra luxurious.

"Cystic fibrosis is one of the few unfortunate mysteries that we have yet to find a solution for," Sanders says. "I am very proud to lend my time and voice to help raise money for this worthy cause."

Nearly 90 cents of every dollar of revenue raised is available for investment in vital Cystic Fibrosis Foundation programs to support research, care and education. Guests canpurchase tickets online, and because only 150 tickets are being released, now is the time to reserve your spot.

If you are unable to attend the March 6 event, there are other ways to show your support. On Tuesday, March 1, at the Quarter Bistro in Mariemont, Sanders, along with fellow philanthropists Adhrucia Apana and Peter Hiltz, will be guest bartending from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., and a significant portion of bar sales will go toward the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

For more information, check out the event's Facebook page. Supporters also can make an online, tax deductible donation to the foundation at CFF.org.
