Vine + Table: Whipped Tipsy Romance
Whipped cream just seems to ooze romance, so our food and wine columnist reveals a new product that gives you the adult pleasures of alcohol in a fun whipped form.

With so many ways you can use the experience of food and drink to enhance the romance of an evening with your Valentine, a new product called CREAM has hit the shelves. This alcohol-infused whipped cream comes in six passionate flavors: raspberry, cherry, orange, caramel, chocolate and vanilla with a smooth alcohol burst.

My husband and I were recipients of a can of this delightful product by my in-laws this Christmas. This might have been a subtle way to suggest it's about time for grandchildren, or they just loved it so much that they wanted to share. Either way, I was super excited at the thought of the various ways this product could easily become the life of any party, especially a party of two.

We immediately tested it out on our coffee and dessert. The experience was divine, but the alcohol flavor was incredibly strong. Each 375 milliliter can of CREAM is 30 proof (15 percent alcohol by volume). One can of CREAM is equal to three bottles of beer. Photobucket

Canisters of the alcohol-laced whipped cream sell for about $12. Unlike regular whipped cream, the adult treat does not need to be refrigerated. In fact, refrigeration breaks apart the alcohol. However, it will need to be shaken madly, otherwise it comes out extremely runny.

CREAM has created quite the controversy since appearing on shelves in late 2010. One concern is that buyers might not be aware the product even contains alcohol. Even the store where my in-laws bought our bottle locally has since discontinued the product. But you can still get your hands on some CREAM at some local Kroger stores and at For yummy cocktail recipes, check out CREAM's Web site at or top off your favorite cocktail with your favorite flavor.

I don't need to go into detail on how you can use this product outside of the kitchen. Just know that there is a whipped cream that tastes amazing in coffee and cocktails, on dessert and for after dessert, too. Happy Valentine's Day!
