When you're raising a family and tightening the budget, the amount of money you spend on yourself is the first to drop. But that doesn't mean you have to give up your pampering time and cutting edge hairstyles.

Cincinnati Academy, a Paul Mitchell Partner School offers salon services at a fraction of the cost of most other places. Their manicures start at $5, and you can walk out with a basic color for $27.

While you're saving your cash, you also are helping the Cincinnati Academy students gain customer service and interaction experience. Putting your looks in the hands of students might cause you a little hesitation, but the customer satisfaction comes in just as strong as a regular, professional salon. "I work at a salon and at the school, and I'm actually the person who deals with the re-dos when [customers] come back, and I would say that it's pretty much on par with the salon I work at," Learning Leader Adviser Margot Hisle says.

To help make sure that the quality and customer satisfaction at Cincinnati Academy is top-notch, professional learning leaders work with the students through each step of the process. "We never leave their side. We're with them on the floor 100 percent of the time," Hisle says.

If you're looking for a more secure salon experience, the Cincinnati Academy offers two levels of guest services. Phase 1 services run a little less than Phase 2, and with a Phase 2 service, you work with a student in the honor program. To gain a place in the Phase 2 staff, students have to audition, provide two letters of recommendation from the staff and be in the final 200 hours of their education experience, Admissions Leader Krista Hardin says.

In addition to the savings, one major benefit of turning to Cincinnati Academy for your salon needs is that the students have the most cutting-edge techniques that other experienced stylists might not have. The Cincinnati Academy constantly updates their curriculum and teachings to meet the instruction from Paul Mitchell "When I came to the school and started having them do my hair, I found that they were using the newest techniques versus the same thing over and over again," Hardin says.

Beyond having the newest tricks up their sleeve to deliver a stylish finish, the students also must adhere to the proper techniques every step of the way. "It's almost more beneficial to come to a school because you really do everything the exact right way that you're supposed to do it. There's no cheating to get by with something or an easier way to do it. We do everything the technically proper way to do it," Hisle says.
