"Expect Great Things" in Fall Fashion

"Expect Great Things" in Fall Fashion
One department store continues a recent trend toward more stylish offerings. Learn how the company has changed its "look" and what advice their trend expert has for you to change yours this season.

082310FASHION1.jpgIf you want to be a successful company within the cutthroat fashion biz, it's essential to get well acquainted with your customers and their ever-changing desires. This means presenting seasonal clothing trends appealing to those who walk through life like they're strutting the runway.

If there's one fashion name that's stepped up its game these past few years, it's Kohl's Department Stores. By bringing in clothing lines of big-deal designers and working to support environmental and charitable causes, Kohl's has reinvented itself to better enhance its shoppers' wardrobe and conscience.

The most anticipated fashion season of the year is right around the corner, and Kohl's is more than ready to prove its fall trend knowledge."This fall is the season of contrast, where we are seeing a strong play on masculine versus feminine," says David Hacker, vice president of trend and color for Kohl's. "Pair feminine details such as a lace-trimmed top or skirt with a masculine, military-inspired jacket to easily and affordably incorporate this trend into wardrobes this season."

Savvy shoppers looking to work this trend into their closets can find the necessary tools through several designer brands appearing exclusively at Kohl's. These brands, including Simply Vera Wang, 082310FASHION2.jpgELLE, and LC Lauren Conrad, cater to trendy women looking for designer-quality clothing at a reasonable price point. They've also played a large role in developing the store's reputation as a store carrying fashion-forward, stylish clothes.

Designers like these, as well as the other brands Kohl's carries, will offer fall garments tailored to meet color and fabric trends as well. "Teal and rust are the must-have colors this fall," Hacker says. "These warm and bold colors are seen throughout Kohl's fall collection from apparel to accessories."

Menswear inspirations, mixed prints, contrasting denim and embellishments are also top trends, but Hacker names the layered look as this season's most prominent statement. "Transition into fall affordably with key essentials including blazers, cardigans, denim and leggings," he says. "Add on-trend colors to close fundamentals like tights and jackets for a standout outfit."

While Kohl's has started to master staying on point with seasonal fashion trends, it's making strong efforts toward supporting socio-economic trends as well. The Kohl's Cares program uses initiatives like the "Green Scene" and "Associates in Action" to encourage environmental sustainability and volunteer opportunities for employees.

The store's Green Scene works within the company to reduce its carbon footprint. Through recycling 130,000 tons a year, operating with renewable energy, and using sustainable store construction methods, among many other steps, Kohl's is making a significant impact on the green movement within large corporations.

Equally as impressive, the Associates in Action program allows Kohl's employees to volunteer for the greater good. Associates can volunteer their services in areas like youth-serving nonprofit organizations, environmental initiatives, and health-focused associations. Here's the best part: When at least five associates from a single location volunteer a minimum of three consecutive hours with an organization, they aid the nonprofit in earning a grant.

With its current advancements in both clothing styles and impactful movements, it's clear that Kohl's is taking trends and doing more than "making them work!"
