Educational Eats

Educational Eats
You can enjoy learning how to cook a healthy meal in the comfort of your own home with this local chef. Find out how she also can serve as your personal chef at an affordable rate.

081610HEALTH2.jpgWith home ec. classes gone to the wayside, your skills in the kitchen might not be as sharp as the knife in your drawer, but Green Eats Owner Krishna Chapatwala can be your whetstone.

Chapatwala offers in-home cooking demonstrations. By learning in your own kitchen, you and your family can find out ways to use the tools you already have, as Chapatwala offers tips throughout her time with you.

"We go over each recipe and cook the recipes together, and I show them techniques, knife skills, different uses for ingredients or substitutions for ingredients that may not be available — lots of tips and hints," Chapatwala says. "So they get to learn about cooking in that time with me, but in the end they also get to eat the meal that they've helped me prepare."

Chapatwala also has extensive knowledge on local farmers and their produce. If clients are interested, Chapatwala can discuss the farmers she works with and what specific produce they provide. She likes to "make the connection with the people and the produce," she says.

Beyond the learning opportunities, Green Eats also offers an affordable personal chef service geared toward local food. "I make myself and Green Eats affordable because I create menus that suit the tastes of my clients and obviously their budgets," Chapatwala says.

Green Eats works with clients' individual wants, needs and budgets to develop a plan that works for them. Chapatwala's knowledge of the local produce and farmers help her work with specific dietary restrictions like organic and vegetarian diets. "I'm very flexible and [price] varies greatly, but it's because I tailor to my individual client needs," she says.

You can have Green Eats provide one meal a week or all meals plus snacks. And while Chapatwala can make it all in your own kitchen, you won't need to do the shopping. She will buy and prep the ingredients, cook the meal and clean up after herself, so you can come home to a healthy, delicious meal without the hassle of doing the dishes.

Green Eats' service range is within 25 miles of Downtown Cincinnati. The company also offers catering services for small and large events. To learn more or to set up a free consultation with Chapatwala, check out LocalGreenEats.com or call (513) 885-2822.
