Sizzling New Styles For Men
Local Cincinnati "hotties" show off their personal brand of style for summer featuring new looks to properly rock their style. Learn how you can help your man match his own style.

We know why you love the men in your life, but what attracted you first when it came to their look? Was it his closely cropped haircut matching his crisp gray suit and tie? Or did his beach
1209KROMBHOLZ.gifboy look — leather sandals and camp shirt — make you sway? Perhaps the all-American (or all-Cincinnati) boy look with his classic cotton shirt and jeans made you look twice.

Cincy Chic
spoke with Natalie Quinn, men's buyer and stylist at The Wardrobe, and a couple local Cincinnati "hotties" for their best advice on achieving specific looks.

While there are many looks a guy can rock, we picked a few of our favorite "brands" of men to help demonstrate the look, including the "Musician," the "Guy in a Suit," the "Prepster" and the "All-Cincinnati Guy." What we found was that they ended up liking some of the things we picked out for them, even if it wasn't something they would have normally selected on their own.

The Musician

Name: Patrick Schleker

Day Job: Timpanist with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra

What makes him hot: "I would like to think it's my nice personality. Kelly [my fiancée] says that she 061410FASHION.jpgthought I looked like a genuinely nice person [when she met me]," Schleker says. "I take care of myself, you know, get your rest, take your vitamins. [Laughs.],"

What he's wearing right now: What Goes Around Comes Around Apache Shirt layered over Parachute Tee; Earnest Sewn Spring Hemingway Full Leg Fit Jean

What he wears to work: "Tuxedo with tails for concerts, but for rehearsals during the week, there's no dress code. I mean, I make sure I look clean and groomed. [Laughs.]," Schleker says.

What he has to say about his personal style choices: "Traditional, classic. I don't like to draw attention to myself, but that's the nature of my job. I like clothes that actually fit," Schleker says

What Quinn has to say about selecting his wardrobe, where to shop in Cincinnati: "Urban Outfitters is probably a good place to find those trendy, laid-back looks. Think cool vintage cotton T-shirts, skinny jeans paired with that hot longer hair! If you want a more upscale rocker look, we can work with you at The Wardrobe Men's to find a less mainstream look."

All-Cincinnati Guy

Name: Brandon Hamilton

Day Job: Morning traffic reporter at Channel 5

What makes him hot: "I think I classify as a respectful person. I'm
061410FASHION4.jpgkind of soft spoken, and genuine," Hamilton says. "I do care about the way I look, but I'm not 100 percent stylistic or fashion savvy."

What he's wearing right now: J. Lindeberg Wax Cotton Jacket over What Goes Around Comes Around Wings T-Shirt; Earnest Sewn Hemingway dark wash jean

What he wears to work: "Of course, I wear a suit five days a week," he says.

What he has to say about his personal style choices: "I like a nice pair of jeans, a vintage shirt, a blazer. I'm really into golf, so I sometimes rock the golf shirts. And of course, any Cincinnati Bengals or Reds gear. I'm pretty picky about what I wear, most of the time. If people give me something for Christmas, it goes right back to the store. [Laughs.]," he says.

What Quinn has to say about selecting his look, where to shop in Cincinnati: "Head over to Koch Sporting Goods, Dick's and department stores. The Wardrobe Men's carries golf wear like polos, shorts and shoes. The J. Lindeberg golf shoes are a really modern black and white leather shoe and go great with our pants and shirts. All of our golfwear is all very high-performance material, so it'll keep you cool in the summer months, "she says.

061410FASHION2.jpgThe Guy In A Suit

Name: Michael Fender

Day Job: Law student at the University of Cincinnati

What makes him hot: "To be honest, I think the thing that gets the guys noticed is being the most stylish guy in the room. My dad [taught me] that it never hurts to be the best-dressed guy in the room. The guy that wears a tie is going to impress at the interview, in the dating scene, and he's going to impress the parents. The tie is crucial," he says.

What he's wearing right now: Suit from Romualdo; J. Lindeberg Blade Crunched Check Shirt; tie (his own)

What he wears to work: "I try to carry my personal philosophy about being the best dressed guy into the classroom as well. I think that the key to standing out is being really stylish," he says.

What he has to say about his personal style choices: "Well, I'm a proud graduate of J. Crew U [Miami University], so I'm not afraid to go all out on the preppy-ness. I like a button-down collared shirt under a sweater. It works well at school, and I think it translates at the bar. Footwear is strictly Sperry's and flip-flops," he says.

What Quinn has to say about selecting his wardrobe, where to shop in Cincinnati: "Check out Blaine's, Romualdo in Madeira, Nordstrom, Saks, and The Wardrobe Men's for items to compliment your suit. We're getting in new dress shoes this summer from Ted Baker to update your footwear and new John Varvatos ties and dress shirts. We're also getting dress shirts from Marc by Marc Jacobs and the jeans line from Paul Smith," she says.

061410FASHION5.jpgUrban Sophisticate

Name: Addison Carter

Day Job: Researcher at Proctor & Gamble

What makes him hot: "I think it's that I do interesting things, from breakfast downtown at Findlay, to a night at Know [Theatre], to canoeing on the Ohio River. I always have something going on," Carter says.

What he's wearing right now: J. Lindeberg Angora Golf Check V-Neck over his own American Apparel black tee; Earnest Sewn Spring Fuller Jean; shoes (his own)
What he wears to work: "The 1960s IBM-standard charcoal trousers, oxford blue shirt, black belt and shoes," he says.

What he has to say about his personal style choices: "My style is trendy, but I'm into some grungier looks. I make do with dark pants and trim boxy shirts with no ties and a pair of slip-on Florsheim [dress shoes]."

What Quinn has to say about selecting his look, where to shop in Cincinnati: "I'd take a look at Park + Vine where they carry a lot of local designers as well as Bolero and Saks are great places to look. Check out The Brush Factory in Brighton, where emerging designers and DAAP students show off their lines. The Wardrobe Men's is great for exclusive clothing and trendier items with edgy sophistication. Nowhere else in the city covers the styles that we do. We only carry one size of every style, so it does make it a bit more exclusive," she says.

061410FASHION3.jpgThe Prepster

Name: Nicholas Berger

Day Job: Medical student at the University of Cincinnati

What makes him hot: "I would say, girls are initially attracted to my flowing thick blonde hair. [Laughs.] They are reeled in by my classic khaki, preppy polos, and ever-stylish Ray Bans, which makes me look a little like the boy next door that girls are never afraid to take home and introduce to the parents," Berger says.

What he's wearing right now: J. Lindeberg Merino Wool V-Neck Sweater over navy Gingham button-down; J. Lindeberg Nicolas Stretch Wool trousers with Slater white leather belt

What he wears to work: "Huh. I guess I would say it would depend on the day. It's either scrubs to gross anatomy lab or khakis and a collared shirt to class. Lab is the same, I have to wear pants to the lab. No shorts in the lab, even in the summer months," he says.

What he has to say about his personal style choices: "I'm a pastel prince — Let's see, I would say my perfect look is a pair of Sperry's with no socks, Docker khakis, pastel colored polo shirt and of course, my Ray Bans. I throw on the medical student ID badge as an added accessory," he says.

What Quinn has to say about selecting his look, where to shop in Cincinnati: "Of course, check out any Ralph Lauren, Sperry, Paul Smith polos and khakis. Romauldo's has some great colorful and patterned ties — paisley, printed and striped — by Southern Tide and you can find Vineyard Vines and more classic looks at Khakis in Hyde Park," she says.
