Fueled for Ford Move over, Mustang Sally, because Mustang Brenda is in town! But she doesn't just want to ride around. Learn how she's putting her efforts to help others ride too. ![]() She drives a 2007 Ford Mustang 6 cylinder, but this woman's love of Mustangs dates back much further.
More than 30 years ago, Brenda Buis, the membership coordinator for the Tri-State Mustang/Ford Club, and her husband joined the Mustang Club of America (MCA) and the Tri-State Mustang/Ford Club (a local chapter of the MCA).
Since the start of their passion, Buis and her husband have collected everything from a Shelby Mustang to Mustang Fastbacks. The couple also has a couple unrestored originals from the 1960s.
While the unrestored Mustangs aren't fit for driving, Buis and her husband show their other cars around town and around the entire country. In March they just traveled to Pensacola, Fla., to show off their beauties.
More often than not, though, Buis shows her Mustangs around town at various events sponsored by the Tri-State Mustang/Ford Club. As the membership coordinator of the club, Buis deals with all new registrants and makes sure they're signed up for the monthly newsletter.
All registrants' memberships extend to their entire families, and while families come and go, the club maintains a consistent membership of more than 100 families, Buis says. And just like Buis' personal Mustang collection, member cars range from the latest models all the way back to classic styles, with about 60 percent of the cars being later models.
Whether members are sporting a 2010 model or a '65 classic, the Tri-State Mustang/Ford Club offers several opportunities to show off their autos. In fact, Buis is looking forward to the club's 30th Annual All-Ford Show July 18 at Dave & Buster's. The day before the show, the club will play host to a pony trail to honor Former Club Treasurer Tony Rinaldi, who died from an asthma attack last year.
Beyond their events, the club meets at 7:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month. Their meetings change locations, but their Web site offers location information.
