Total Body Wellness: The Hero Next to You in the Gym With all of the high-profile athletes in the media, you might be surprised by some of the biggest fitness inspirations in the city. Our fitness expert shares how you can inspire and be inspired. There are no shortages of heroes in athletics. We've got books, magazines, and radio and TV channels purely devoted to superstar men and women. Every year standouts in pro-football and March Madness provide us a tear-jerking story or two about someone's rise to greatness. If that isn't enough, the Olympics come around every few years and always produce someone that provides inspiration to the masses.
Outside of these men and women in the professional sports arena, there are the rest of us — normal people just looking to stay healthy. One very unique aspect of our gym is that we have a doctor's office right inside our facility. Because of this, we attract a number of clients who are looking to overcome significant physical limitations.
We have had clients with tears in their joints, replacement knees and hips, arthritis and spinal surgeries. I'm currently working with a fantastic individual who had been recommended for immediate spinal surgery, and she has worked very hard to rehabilitate through training and chiropractic care without the need of drugs or surgery.
Our clients with these types of physical limitations come in and work hard. Every workout builds on the last, and they do things that they never thought they could do before. The most amazing part is how motivating it is to watch. Yes, you read that right. Trainers are motivated by their clients. We love to see you succeed, and your success is what makes you a hero in our book.
In an article a few weeks back, we talked about how a positive mental attitude is the largest determining factor in the gym. It's so true, and our heroes in the gym, our BEAT warriors, have proved that.
Too many people in Cincinnati aren't motivated and don't believe they can do it when they go to the gym. I'd like to invite you to become a hero for someone else in our city today. Please leave a comment below about something you've accomplished (big or small) that can motivate someone else, be it working out, focusing on proper nutrition or just taking control of your health in general. If we become everyday heroes to each other, we can accomplish anything. More articles by this author
