Cincinnati has its share of salons and spas, but other places offer services you just can't find in the Queen City. The Woodlands Spa at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, Penn., is just one of those places.

While the Woodlands Spa offers your common massage and facial among its almost 100 treatments and services, the menu also features rare services and some you will not find anywhere else. In fact, The "Been There, Done That" spa package ($435) combines many of these treatments.

"One of the things that's great about the Woodlands Spa is that we really try to stay up on the newer things, and we also try to take advantage of the things that are indigenous to this area," Director of Spa Operations Stephanie Hostetler says. So the "Been There, Done That" package includes a lavender indulgence service, Echoes of the Universe (acutonics) and a Dream Catcher Massage.

051010BEAUTY2.jpgThe lavender indulgence service is a mini Kur, which entails a series of spa treatments. In this series, the spa uses lavender, "which everyone loves lavender," Hostetler says.

Echoes of the Universe uses acutonics, or vibrational massage. Similar to acupuncture, this service puts pressure on specific areas to relieve pain and tension. For the needle-phobic, however, this service uses tuning forks instead of needles and does not involve any punctures to the skin. Instead, the service combines the knowledge of its two developers (an acupuncturist and a music therapist) to "use sound therapy in combination with acupressure," Hostetler says.

Finally, the Dream Catcher Massage is exclusive to the Woodlands Spa. "The Dream Catcher massage was developed here," Hostetler says. "We were looking for an indigenous service to honor the Native American heritage from Chief Nemacolin." The service involves both massage and energy work in a 105-minute service.

Beyond The "Been There, Done That" package, the Woodlands Spa also offers unique hydrotherapy services. One of their signature services is the Water Path Ritual ($50). This ritual entails a walking path of pebbles in the water, where the water comes up to different levels ranging from your feet to your upper thigh. The water temperature also varies from 102 degrees Fahrenheit to 55 degrees Fahrenheit. "The pebbles stimulate the reflexology points in your feet, and the alternation of the warm and cold is helping the lymph system and the circulatory system," says Hostetler, who recommends this to any woman who runs around in heels on a frequent basis.

Also involved in the Water Path Ritual is a therapeutic mineral bath. The spa uses minerals from Hungary to make your bath similar to a natural spring, Hostetler says.
