Who says moms can't work and have fun careers?

MomsLikeMe.com Site Manager Cicely Enriquez and Maria Schneider, lifestyle digital content manager of Enquirer Media, are working mothers who incorporate their mom status and careers together to make a perfect pair.

MomsLikeMe.com is a Web site dedicated to mothers in the local area who talk online and swap helpful shopping tips, coupon basics, food recipes, advice for dealing with misbehaving children and plenty more.

The mom experience ranges from first-time mothers looking for preferred diapers to mothers with grown children who want to share what worked with them and what did not when their children were growing up. The moms can win merchandise and plan play dates and meet ups based on their ZIP codes.

"Moms are really looking for a place where they can talk to each other … about sensitive issues," Schneider says. The site is a safe haven for all mom participants because they can make an account, post a picture if they'd like and then add a username so that discussions and responses are kept anonymous.

Enriquez updates the site every day and moderates the discussions. With a background in public relations and marketing in the movie industry, Enriquez decided to take a leap into social media after she had her son, Joseph.

As a mom, Enriquez has found that she has to work on "balancing having a family and working," she says.

With a title like Schneider's, she oversees MomsLikeMe.com as she looks over "the big picture." Her background lies in freelance journalism, and she wrote and worked as an editor at Writer's Digest before she joined the social media craze just six months ago.

With three children ages 13, 15 and 18, "it's a challenge balancing work and motherhood," Schneider says. She gradually started working after her youngest child went to school, which was a good step for her children, she says.

"They have become more self-reliant because I'm not around as much," she says. All of her children know how to cook and help out with preparing dinner.

Don't forget to check out MomsLikeMe.com around Mother's Day because one lucky Cincinnati mom and her friend will win a spa giveaway. Also, keep your eyes open for forums about the best places to eat a nice Mother's Day brunch and many more related items.

For Mother's Day, both Enriquez and Schneider will be honoring the day with their families. Enriquez and her family will be with her mom and mother-in-law. As a tradition, she and her family plant flowers at her mother's house every year.

"As long as we're together, it doesn't matter what we do," Enriquez says.

For Schneider, she and her extended family, including her mother and sister, will be cooking out to celebrate the day.

"And [we'll] let the dads cook," Schneider adds.
