Functionality for Your Personality

If you want your watch to be more than just a fashion accessory, you can look for special functions on the watch beyond just ticking the time. Telling everything from temperature to altitude to multiple time zones, some watches give you more bang for your buck.

  Power House

Once you've determined the function for your fashion, you'll have to decide what type of power source you'd like for your wrist adornment. Brands like Seiko offer kinetic watches, which mean that they actually have the ability to charge themselves based on motion. So as you swing your arms as you walk, you'll be charging your watch. These charges can store up to a month worth of energy to keep going even without motion.

Another type of power source comes with the automatic watch like the Tissot watches. This self-winding watch, like the kinetic watch, eliminates any need to replace the battery. You'll just take your watch off at night and put it on a watch winder to power up for the next day. Don't worry if you forget a couple nights in a row, though, because an automatic watch can hold its charge for a couple days but not as long as a kinetic watch.

Stylishly Yours

 One of the most important aspects of your purchase when it comes to fashion is the actual style of your clock or watch. Schwartz Jewelers sells everything from mantle clocks to grandfather clocks to wall clocks, and the styles range from antique to modern. For example, one of their major brands of clocks is Howard Miller, who has teamed up with Ty Pennington, designer and host of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

With this partnership, the clocks' designs incorporate elements to complement today's furniture and interior design styles. The antique brass pendulums of grandfather clocks now are pewter to match the silver metals of today's designs. 

Similar to clocks, watch styles range from antique to modern. While antique watches served more of the purpose of a bracelet, today's watches have increased their functionality. In fact, in the last three to four years, Schwartz has noticed a significant increase in the size of both men's and women's watches.
