Forget the doggie bag! These three social venues let you bring your pet with you as you chow down or grab a beer, and a couple of them even have special events just for your furry friends.

You only get so much time in the day to spend time with your pets, and three local locations are helping you maximize that quality time by welcoming pets on their premises. All of them respect the sentiment that your pet is a part of your family, so they give you the chance to let the whole family come out — including your four-legged friends.

 Greenup Cafe

(859) 261-3663

308 Greenup Street

Covington

Mentioned in The New York Times as one of the best places to go for brunch in Cincinnati, Greenup Cafe is serving up more than just a tasty meal. Starting May 2, this locally-owned restaurant will kick off their Frisky Business Happy Hour from 5 to 7 p.m. Sundays. During the festivities, humans will enjoy food and drink specials while their dogs can enjoy homemade dog treats. 0110Fence_INSTORY.gif

Outside of the happy hours, Greenup Cafe also plays host to fundraisers for nonprofits that help cats and kittens. And while dogs are a more common sight at the restaurant, cats on leashes have made several appearances.

Beyond the special events, Greenup Cafe welcomes pet lovers and their loves on a regular basis. Following health code, the animals have to stay on the patio areas, but that's often the best seat in the house on a nice spring or summer day.

Chalk Food + Wine

(859) 643-1234

318 Greenup Street

Covington

Known as Covington's only four-star restaurant, Chalk Food + Wine also welcomes your four-legged friends at their outdoor tables. While this restaurant currently does not offer any animal-focused happy hour, you can bring your kitty or pup to the human-focused happy hour from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to enjoy free tapas with any cocktail, wine or beer purchase. As you sip away, your server can bring out a water dish just for your pet so that the two of you can drink to good times together.

Grammer's Bar

(513) 421-8300

1440 Walnut Street

Over the Rhine

Established in 1872 and serving as one of the oldest bars in the city, Grammers Bar in Over the Rhine welcomes pets both indoors and out. Just recently the bar began to offer a Puppy Power Happy Hour from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturdays. During the puppy party, humans can enjoy $1 off all drinks, and their pooch can munch on some free dog treats and lap up some water from their own dish.

During happy hours and regular hours, your animals can take advantage of the bar's beer garden in back. With a fenced in yard, dogs can soak up the dog-park mentality as they play with other pups on the grounds.

Grammers also is working with SPCA Cincinnati to bring their adoption vehicle down to the bar to show that Grammers as an animal-friendly place while simultaneously raising awareness for any animals in need of an adoptive home.
