Beautifying the Bride The months leading up to the big day can entail some major stress, so do yourself a favor and turn to these local ladies who take out the pressure and put in the pampering on your wedding day. ![]() Every bride wants her day to be picture perfect, and that look starts with her. Tri-State companies Glossa and WeddHEAD recognize this fact and provide on-location services for a bride on her wedding day.
Glossa Owner Lyndsey Yeager gained invaluable makeup training and experience at the Makeup Designery in Los Angeles. After working on character-development projects for celebrities like Lindsay Lohan, Yeager brought her experience back to the Queen City. Her work in theater and film provides her with a unique advantage over many makeup artists because she knows what will look good on video and in photos, she says. She also knows how to manipulate makeup to work with lighting so that shadows don't wreak havoc on a bride's beauty.
Beyond her film and photography expertise, Yeager knows the tricks of the trade in the beauty industry, so she offers on-site wedding day makeup in addition to her lessons and private consultations for the everyday woman. She uses her expertise to pull out a bride's natural beauty to provide a polished look rather than a caked-on makeup fest. "When people look through my portfolio, they don't look at the brides and say, 'Oh wow, she has on a ton of makeup.' They say, 'Oh wow, that's a beautiful person,' ' Yeager says.
To make sure she understands each customer's individual style, Yeager requires all of her brides to have a trial run. Before a woman comes for her trial, Yeager asks her to bring a variety of items that helps Yeager get to know the bride's hopes and expectations. From everyday snapshots to makeup application photos to wedding colors, Yeager likes to soak up as much information as possible about the bride.
While Yeager recommends a bride have her trial three to four months before the wedding, she recommends booking a makeup artist much sooner. She recommends a year in advance for booking. And the way her pricing works, this helps spread out the c
Like Glossa, WeddHEAD offers on-site wedding makeup, but they offer on-site hair styling as well. Owners Kate Waters and Megan Holbrook have been working together in hair styling for five years. As more and more of their clients at Collins & Co. Salon were asking for on-site hair styling, Waters and Holbrook recognized the need for a company that specialized in on-site services.
WeddHEAD offers various packages as well as a la carte items. The packages are set up at a 10 percent discount to cut the pampered bride a deal. So as she relaxes as somebody else does her makeup and hair, the bride can stay in her pajamas and sip a mimosa in the comfort of her own home.
On-site location services take a little worry out of the weather, too, because on-site services can go directly to the ceremony site. This means that the bride and her party never have to experience any inclement weather before they walk down the aisle, Waters says.
