Shop for Success
Combine your shop-a-holic tendencies with your hankering to help, and you get this local boutique. Read on to learn more about how this charitably chic shop helps you get your fix.

Women have a tendency to band together to solve the world's problems. Whether the group of gals meets over a philanthropic luncheon or runs to raise funds, women strive to help others succeed. Dress for Success Cincinnati serves as one part of a global organization that works to do just that, help women succeed. But the organization can't do it alone. Enter: 4th Street Boutique.

As Dress for Success works to give women professional clothes for career placement, Cincinnati-exclusive 4th Street Boutique works to sell women high-end attire in a guilt-free setting. Not only is the merchandise cheaper than original designer prices, shoppers know that the price they pay for their purchases goes toward helping a fellow female.

Started seven years ago as a "very nice, upscale designer boutique," 4th Street Boutique's only mission is to help Dress for Success, Associate Director Kelly Collison says. The boutique gains its merchandise from donations for Dress for Success that are not interview or career appropriate. Boutique staff members sift through donations to find gently used and fashionable pieces to offer customers.

And with the giving blood pumping in "the Heart of it All," 4th Street Boutique racks see everything from Chanel to Ferragamo to Calvin Klein. "It blows my mind what people will give us," Collison says.

The boutique even has a "Basement Boutique" for clothes that haven't been grabbed up. After being on the first floor for 30 days, items are moved to the Basement Boutique and priced at $1, $3 or $5, depending on the item.

To have more fun with your guilt-free shopping spree, make an event out of it with a 4th Street Boutique Shop for a Cause event. Available for parties of 10 or more, Shop for a Cause events allow you access to personalized shopping over light refreshments provided by 4th Street Boutique. With the boutique's Downtown presence, you can enjoy a lunch-hour escape mid-week with your co-workers or friends.
