Little Dog, Big Bite Even in this dog-eat-dog world, this local advertising agency can't seem to bite off more than it can chew. Learn how two women keep boutique service with corporate thinking. The tagline says it all: "The small agency with big ideas." Tarte Advertising founders Audrey Keyes and Jennifer Casperson have made a name for themselves with their boutique agency that offers clients larger than life marketing and advertising strategies.
One of their "pride-and-joy" values is their dedication to customer service. CEO Keyes and Chief Creative Officer Casperson never dreamed of a big agency, Keyes says, because as a boutique agency, Tarte Advertising makes it easier on the client.
The company holds weekly "traffic" meetings so that everyone in the office knows the progress and status of each account. "We like to keep everybody in the loop," Keyes says, and in keeping everyone in the loop, clients don't have to jump through hoops. When clients call, they know they can speak directly to Keyes or Casperson without talking to three or four people before reaching them, Keyes says.
While customer service stands as a top priority, so does innovative and effective thinking. Tarte Advertising puts these creative thoughts to good use in several ways, including the three top areas of client interest: design work, strategic planning and digital approach.
With more than 12 years experience in design work, Casperson's expertise helps Tarte Advertising translate a client's verbal request into a polished product. Whether the creativity makes an ad or a direct mailer, it's top-notch quality consistently satisfies customer orders.
On the strategic planning side, Tarte Advertising assists companies in determining a budget for marketing and advertising before tackling the best ways to reach their target audience. "Really working with them to plan ahead is huge, and our clients love that. It has been so helpful. It helps them feel so organized and secure in what they're doing and comfortable," Keyes says.
The digital approach tackles anything online, including blogs and Web sites to social media outlets. Tarte Advertising soon will launch a new division of the company solely devoted to digital, Keyes says.
No matter how Tarte Advertising is working with clients, the staff constantly works to take a proactive approach. Rather than the clients just telling them what to do, Keyes and Casperson take their expert positions very seriously. "We don't do our own taxes because we're not accountants. We don't cut our own hair because we're not hair stylists," Keyes says. "Why try to do your own marketing and advertising if that's not what your expertise is?"
So everyone at Tarte Advertising uses their expertise to think outside the box for their clients and present their ideas to them instead of vice versa.
