Find the Funny in Dating Follies
Whether you're dating, married or your relationship status is "complicated," every gal has had a rough date or two. Read on to learn more about the dating mishaps of this local blogger.

After a particularly devastating date, all single ladies sometimes resort to the Carrie Bradshaw line of questioning: "I couldn't help but wonder … will I ever find a man that won't eventually make me want to run screaming from the building?" But when you need someone with whom to commiserate, don't whip out your "Sex and the City" DVD collection. Instead, turn to The Dating Follies and turn that frown upside down!

Christine Poleon, author of The Dating Follies, is a single 30-something sales representative extraordinaire by day and bad-date blogger by night. After being encouraged by a co-worker to put her dating disaster stories into writing, Poleon took to her laptop to share her woes with the world via Blogger.com.

With good dates few and far between, readers of The Dating Follies won't find any fairytale romance stories just yet. "I've had a lot of bad dates.... That’s sort of the common theme and they're funnier [than good dates]," Poleon says.

Averaging about two dates per week, Poleon, better known as "Catherine" on her blog, has dozens of entries devoted to the men in her life. With her companions assigned post-date nicknames like The Finger Licker, Basketball Butt, Huge and The Flatulator, you can bet every entry is an entertaining read! But don't turn to our protagonist for dating guidance. "I am not qualified to dispense any kind of advice. The blog is really for entertainment purposes only," Poleon says.

With many of the men she dates completely unaware of her blogging alter ego, "Catherine" speaks honestly (sometimes brutally) about her adventures in dating and relationships. With reoccurring characters like "Nipps" and "The Pit Boss," Poleon isn't just writing about single dates with men she'll never see again, but also interjects real emotion into her laughable liaisons.

Most readers of The Dating Follies hail from the Greater Cincinnati area, but "Catherine" also has readers from as far away as Australia, England and even Brazil. "There are people in Brazil that have problems dating too!" she says.
