Living Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous A night on the river might float your boat, so you can sail away with this local yacht charter company. Learn how your next corporate event or family party can meet with Destiny. ![]() In everything from fashion to houses, many people look to celebrities for lifestyle inspiration, but that inspiration can change to frustration with a quick look at the price tag. Destiny Yacht Charters offers that celebrity experience with a more affordable price.
After more than seven years in business, Destiny Yacht Charters continues to offer customers charter opportunities to enjoy a yacht named Destiny. "We are lifestyles of the rich and famous for an afternoon. That's what we try to tell our guests," Captain and Co-owner Shawn Somers says. "You may not be able to afford a million-plus-dollar yacht, but you could afford to charter out Destiny for the afternoon."
Destiny is the largest private yacht on the Ohio River and is one of the largest, if not top yacht, on the Mississippi River. Its size isn't its only impressive characteristic because Destiny is beautiful inside and out. Inside, crystal chandeliers reflect the elegance of the yacht, and outside, views of Downtown Cincinnati never disappoint.
"I have probably gone boating through the Downtown Cincinnati area well over 1,000 times in my career — you know, just running tours and running boats up and down the river," Somers says. "And the downtown area has never ever let me down. I'm amazed every single time I get to go driving through it."
While the majority of the business includes private events, Destiny Yacht Charters also have a couple public events throughout the year. Somers and his partner Mike Shirley plan to offer a jazz cruise series next summer to spotlight various Cincinnati bands while offering the public a chance to board the yacht.
Before the summer, however, Somers and Shirley might celebrate New Year's Eve on Destiny as a public event, but the plans are still in the works. Also, Destiny is fully temperature controlled with both heating and air conditioning, so a night on the river is an all-seasons opportunity.
"It feels like your living room as you cruise down the river even in the winter time," Somers says.
