Become a Student of Girlfriendology You might not be a fan of microbiology or paleontology, but if you love spending time with your gal pals, this local lady has it down to a science. Learn more about her Web site that celebrates female friendships. ![]() It's difficult being a woman in a man's world — wait — it's not the '80s anymore! Women can do and be whatever they want! And with online networking sites quickly catapulting themselves to the top of our list of ways to network for business and social lives alike, it's good to know that there are Web sites available like Girlfriendology.com that cater specifically to women.
Girlfriendology.com is the brainchild of Debba Haupert, a local business woman and self-proclaimed "marketing mutt." She founded the site back in 2005 after learning that two of her girlfriends were dealing with cancer. "I was troubled by my girlfriends' having cancer and why I had such a need to be around my female friends to support me during that time as I was supporting them," Haupert says.
After years of working in almost every marketing job imaginable — from being the vice president in marketing and sales for a bank to working as the senior manager in product development for a candle company — Haupert decided to redirect her efforts onto the Girlfriendology Web site. She wanted to create a positive place online where female friendships and business relationships could grow and be encouraged. "My goal is to inspire women and to make a difference in the world, one friendship at a time. We all need to take care of each other and support each other more," Haupert says.
Three and a half years later, Haupert's dream is still a reality and going strong. On the Girlfriendology Web site you can find Debba's blog where she documents all the amazing women she meets at events like the BlogHer Conferences. She posts tips on great sales and her favorite products. Visitors can sign up to win contests, check out Girlfriendology BlogTalkRadio, or just sign up to receive the Girlfriendology newsletter.
Haupert offers advice on relationships, nutrition, books, finance and more. But this isn't a one-sided operation. You can comment, reply via your own personal blog, or follow the current hot online trend and use the Twitter feed. The feed allows you to follow Haupert, add your own two cents and see what other women have to say about the topics discussed on Girlfriendology.
