A Purse Party for Your Personality
It doesn't get much better than a room full of friends and handbags. Read on to find which purse party fits your personality.

Handbags and girlfriends serve vital roles in a woman's life. Without either, a woman could lose her mind with an unorganized mess or an emotional defeat, so before you head off the deep end, look to these local companies to give you a fun time with friends as you find your next handbag companion.

Sassy Sacks

One local woman has taken it upon herself to give you what you need exactly how you want it. Cyndy Naylor, owner and designer of Sassy Sacks, allows women to design their own bags at her purse parties. With seven different bag styles and more than 100 material swatches, guests can match the material and their bag to their personality and style. Naylor makes each bag to order by herself, and guests can expect to be sporting their custom clutch within two to three weeks. A minimum of eight guests is required for a Sassy Sacks party, but if you round up your friends, before the end of April, you can receive Naylor's winter special: a wristlet plus $50 toward any bag, Naylor says.

Bella Donna Couture

Like Sassy Sacks, Bella Donna Couture is a made-to-order operation. Party goers can pick a bag style, a material swatch and additional touches to make a fashionable creation that they will receive within four to six weeks of their party date. And Bella Donna boasts a budget-friendly selection. "Our product prices put us in a more attainable market as far as people with a normal budget," President and Founder Angie Salazar says. Bella Donna prices are even more marketable for the hostess of the party who receives 10 percent of the sales toward her own purchases as long as the party sales reach at least $200. 041309SOCIAL.jpg

Miche Girl

For a personalized bag without the design-it-yourself angle, Miche Girl might be what your hand desires. Miche Girl breaks the mold of handbags by offering a changeable purse with hundreds of design possibilities. Guests select a base bag in brown or black and then choose "shells" that attach to the base purse with electronic-safe magnets. "The sales rep comes and brings purses and shells and basically just lets them play," franchise Co-owner Kandace Cox says. So you can keep all of the inner workings of your bag the same as you change shells to match your changing 041309MICHE.gifstyles and clothes. "About as fast as you can put your shoes on you can change your purse," Cox says. The best part: the bags and shells are available for immediate purchase and enjoyment.

Designs by Paolo

For a celeb style bag, turn to Designs by Paolo. Its original doctor bags have been converted to fashionable handbags fit for a red-carpet lady, including Paris Hilton, Julianne Hough, Natasha Bedingfield and the Kardashian girls. While the price points are a little higher ($40 to $460), Designs by Paolo party guests can rest assured that their bag is "especially Cincy chic," says Erin Biel, president of Professional Case of which Designs by Paolo is a division. "It is literally created in Cincinnati." Also, Designs by Paolo offers the option of charity purse parties, where a charity receives part of the profit in lieu of the normal hostess incentives. "We love doing that," Biel says.

DeGroot Handbags

While it's not a purse-party company, DeGroot Handbags still gives a social outlet to Queen City women with its trunk shows. DeGroot Handbags sells internationally, but events are limited to Cincinnati. "I like to make that opportunity available to local Cincinnati women to buy DeGroot handbags. People should know that, if they attend, we offer an exclusive price that they would not get anywhere else," Designer and President Missy DeGroot says. And that exclusive price can be quite a steal with DeGroot's fashion-forward handbags. Their high-quality leather and design offer a sophisticated yet sexy look that will make you stand out from the crowd. "They're not shy," DeGroot says. "If you buy a DeGroot handbag, it's going to get noticed. You're going to get a lot of attention." If you miss a trunk show, you can find DeGroot Handbags at Morrison & Me, the Malton Gallery, The Gilded Age and the Woodhouse Day Spa.
